Preparing engineers and planners for High Speed Rail in California

The four-day HST California Symposium and Institute was held in May at Berkeley.  The opening one-day Symposium gave over 100 attendees the chance to hear from speakers like the Honorable Rod Didiron (Emeritus Executive Director, Mineta Transportation Institute), Tilly Chang (Executive Director, San Francisco County, Transportation Authority), Manuel Valle (Trade Commissioner of Spain/Los Angeles), and our very own Alex Bayen (Director of ITS), and the valuable opporutnity to interact and network with them and other international leaders in the field of High Speed Rail.  This exciting Symposium was followed by three-days of masterclasses introducing a smaller group of participants to the technical aspects of high speed rail, in a more in-depth learning environment than the one-day Symposium would allow.

From the opening day symposium through the three days of in-depth technical training, it was the commitment to High Speed Rail in California, from speakers, attendees, and sponsors alike, that made the week a huge success.  Tech Transfer thanks the sponsors and all the lecturers and attendees that participated.
