Resources From The Transportation Library
Trade Publications
By Rita Evans,
Reference Librarian
Institute of Transportation Studies Library
Trade publications focus on a specific industry or aspect of an industry and are
targeted at working professionals.
They deal with very specific and timely topics:
what's hot in the field,
what new challenges the industry faces,
or what's happening at company X.
Trade journals are useful for finding product information,
new technologies and applications,
trends,
industrial issues,
and legal and regulatory concerns.
They emphasize practical applications and concerns rather than research and
theory.
Articles are focused and often include graphics,
diagrams and photographs.
Trade magazines are very affordable and may be free to qualified subscribers.
Many are now available online.
Here is a sampling of trade journals you may find useful.
