The conference provides an opportunity for officials from federal, state, and local governments, private industry leaders, consultants and advisors, and transportation specialists from nonprofit groups to help shape the research and action agendas for sustainable development. Save the Date: 2008 California Pavement Preservation ConferenceWe are pleased to announce that the next pavement preservation conference will be held April 9-10, 2008 at the Radisson in Newport Beach, CA. Sign up for New FREE Pedestrian Safety Evaluation ServiceBeginning in 2008, Tech Transfer will offer a FREE Pedestrian Safety Evaluation service to all cities and counties in California. At your request, a team of two pedestrian safety experts will visit your local agency for two days to help comprehensively evaluate pedestrian safety conditions, with a view to recommending measures that have been proven to significantly improve pedestrian safety at specific locations as well as systemwide. Following their visit, you will receive a report describing the evaluators' work, findings and recommendations. Funding for this FREE Pedestrian Safety Evaluation service is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Requests for this free service can be made now, with evaluations starting in 2008. For more information about this evaluation service and how to make a request, please send an e-mail.
