Melendy Named Director of Tech Transfer
Laura Melendy has been named Director of the Technology Transfer Program at the
Institute of Transportation Studies.
She replaces Linda Howe-Steiger who retired in June.
Melendy holds a Master's degree in Transportation Engineering from the
University of California Berkeley and a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Her work experience spans transportation engineering, planning, policy,
environment, accident investigation and safety.
She has been on the staff at Tech Transfer since 2003.
Earlier in her career she worked for the National Transportation Safety Board on
accident investigation and safety.
Tech Transfer provides professional development and helps familiarize
transportation practitioners in the field with the latest research and best
practices.
"This is vital in order for them to do their jobs better, build and maintain our
infrastructure over a longer lifespan, manage our resources more efficiently,
operate our transportation systems and work zones more safely, and all while
reducing congestion and delay to the public," said Melendy.
