Abstract: Three factors which must be balanced in roadway design are preservation of the natural landscape, road safety, and road construction costs. This video explains the clear zone concept and shows a variety of road design alternatives, calling for cooperation between public engineers and local citizens to reach an agreement on a balanced road design solution.
Notes: This video explains road engineering concepts, but calls for compromise in road design controversies. It may be useful for citizens' groups as well as road agency personnel.
