| Abstract: |
Like other urban infrastructure, trees can become a liability if not properly maintained. To reduce liability, reasonable care requires municipalities to routinely identify and treat potentially hazardous trees. Designed to make administrators and other community officials aware of the problems and risks that defective trees can pose to life and property, this video discusses: how to identify current and prevent future tree defects, what makes trees prone to failure, how to minimize the risks of tree failure, and how to manage trees for maximum structural stability. The video addresses common municipal activities, including: sidewalk and island construction, excavating, grading, compacting, paving, tree planting and pruning. |
| Notes: |
This video can be used to educate decision-makers, such as city and county administrators, and public works and transportation directors or even the public, on the need for a routine tree inspection and maintenance program. |
