Riley Beaman

Job title:
UAS Program Manager
Department:
North Carolina Department of Transportation Division of Aviation
Bio/CV:

Riley came to NC Division of Aviation from the NC Community College System where he was employed by Montgomery Community College for 18 years. Overseeing the college’s Public Safety and Emergency Services Department, Riley saw a true need for UAV/UAS education within the public safety sector and formed the NC Public Safety Drone Academy. The Academy worked to train thousands of public safety members across NC from basic flight, search and rescue, natural disaster operations, active shooter, to advanced multi-agency operations. Most importantly, by establishing his Academy within the North Carolina Community College System, classes were and still are 100% tuition free for all North Carolina public safety and emergency service members, departments, and agencies! During that time Riley partnered with the Division of Aviation on the ground floor, as their team worked to build and establish a robust program. Riley assisted the NC UAS team throughout their IPP process, NC UAS Summits, hurricane response, medical package delivery, food delivery, Phase I of the EHang flight, and with their various workshops and training events across the state. Riley has recently joined the NC Division of Aviation as their new UAS
Program Manager where he has already hit the ground running and will use his experience and partnerships to continue to build and expand NC’s UAS program!
