Tamara A. Swann serves as the Western-Pacific Region (AWP) Acting Regional Administrator starting April 2022.

As the Acting Regional Administrator, Tamara provides leadership on key agency priorities, such as horizontal integration across the FAA Lines of Business and Staff Offices, to ensure the Agency provides consistent stakeholder support and engagement.  The office partners with Federal, state, and local governments and others to promote aviation safety and education across the region.  The office is responsible for cross-agency coordination (or horizontal integration) on wide-ranging issues, including airspace and procedure modernization, runway safety, aviation workforce development, finance, information technology, policy, human resources, and civil rights regional emergency preparedness and building services.  Tamara's 35-plus years of aviation experience and knowledge have been a catalyst to her building effective, collaborative, and successful teams.

Before this, she served as the Deputy Regional Administrator since February 2015, supporting the Regional Administrator.

Tamara's previous permanent assignment was with the Flight Standards Division as the Safety Analysis and Evaluation Branch Manager for the Western-Pacific Region.  Tamara worked in Flight Standards for 16 years at various levels of management, including; UAL CMO Assistant Manager during the Continental – United Airlines merger and as the Western-Pacific Associate Division Manager.

As an Aviation Safety Inspector, Tamara began her career with the FAA in 1998 at the Louisville Flight Standards District Office.  She attended Pennsylvania State University and is a 2002 USDA Executive Potential Program graduate.  Before her career with the FAA, Tamara served in several management positions with a national airline for five years.  She is also a proud United States Air Force veteran, having served as an Air Traffic Control Specialist during the Gulf War.

The Western-Pacific Region covers over 18.7 million square miles of airspace, including Arizona, California, Hawaii, and Nevada, and the U.S. territories of American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and Guam.  Three Compact countries receiving Airport Improvement Funding are also included in the region: the Republic of Palau, the Federated States of Micronesia, and the Marshall Islands.  The Western-Pacific Region contains four of the nation's top ten busiest airports; Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Phoenix, and San Francisco.
